Production Supervisor (Night Shift) Create value at TC Transcontinental

The position is responsible for continuous improvement in cost, quality, and service levels by employing best practices and lean concepts. Must guide and coach the efforts of team members to deliver on annual business objectives, while helping promote a strong plant culture centered on Company values. Position will lead the efforts of a production team including planning, organizing, training, coaching, and insuring compliance with various customer, company and government requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management


  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities to reduce costs and improve productivity.
  • Lead team efforts in meeting or exceeding shift KPI goals in safety, productivity, raw material waste, customer complaints, and service.
  • Work with Team Leader in identifying, communicating, and meeting customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain standard work practices.
  • Monitor and coordinate shift activities related to partner safety, crew scheduling, and performance to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Department to keep equipment operating efficiently to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Develop and maintain effective training programs for all shift positions.
  • Maintain constant plant readiness for all regulatory and certification audits.
  • Oversee trials and new business scale-ups to ensure successful onboarding of new business.
  • Certify all production paperwork and data entry is accurate, useful, and retained appropriately.
  • Ensure that proper tooling and supplies are readily available and accessible when needed.
  • Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Write accurate, thorough, and consistent process documentation.
  • Perform root cause investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent recurring problems.
  • Plant Leadership

  • Establish and maintain a culture of open communication, collaboration, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to develop the team and appraise performance consistently.
  • Motivate and mentor team members, maintaining regular visibility on the plant floor.
  • Foster a safe work environment by adhering to all safety and regulatory procedures.
  • Champion food safety compliance and readiness, particularly by following and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.
  • Build relationships with all departments. Assist in the development of annual business plan objectives as well as personal and team development goals.

When your expertise drives us.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Industrial Technologies, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a specialized degree.
  • Professional Background
  • 1-3+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Flexographic packaging experience preferred.

  • High energy with the ability to multi-task and deliver against short deadlines.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starting with the ability to function with minimal supervision and direct the activities of others.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain control over large amounts of constantly changing information.
  • Ability to manage inventories.
  • Proficient in the use of computer equipment and software, including all Microsoft Office applications and Windows-based ERP programs.
