Highway Project Manager - Transportation Group

Benesch is seeking to hire a Highway Project Manager to support our growing transportation team. This is a strong opportunity to play a key role in advancing the Connecticut Division's growth while delivering impactful transportation projects across the region. In this role, you will step into a first-level leadership position, leading project delivery, mentoring staff, and building client relationships across Connecticut and the Northeast. You will own project delivery end-to-end, navigate competing priorities, and drive results across multidisciplinary teams.

You will work on high-visibility transportation projects that support regional mobility, access, and economic development in partnership with municipalities and local agencies. This includes leading small to mid-sized highway and local roadway projects, as well as owning key scopes within larger, multi-disciplinary transportation efforts.

Successful, impactful projects delivered by the team include the Edison Road Extension, a 2,300-foot roadway extension that unlocked over 60 acres for development and improved access within a growing industrial area, and Willowbrook Road Reconstruction, a 1,800-foot roadway improvement that enhanced safety, upgraded drainage infrastructure, and required complex permitting, including FEMA coordination.

  • Serve as the primary client contact, building strong relationships and ensuring successful project outcomes
  • Partner with leadership on project strategy, performance, and overall delivery
  • Support business development efforts, including identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals and interviews
  • Mentor and develop engineers, EITs, and designers through hands-on project work

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • PE license in Connecticut with 8 to 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in project management or task leadership on highway or local roadway projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage teams and projects effectively
  • Proven ability to manage project scope, budgets, and schedules while delivering high-quality results
  • Ability to work independently and produce complete, reviewable deliverables
