This position does not require relocation, however, it requires work at the jobsite which may necessitate rotational travel for a minimum of 3 weeks at a time, with one weekend home (typical).

General Position Description

The Superintendent position is responsible for efficiently managing all field resources including providing overall direction and guidance to foremen, all field personnel, and subcontractors in collaboration with project managers, quality control managers, and project engineers for the specified project. The Superintendent will be in control of all field operations and work hand in hand with our Project Management team to construct a safe, high quality, and highly profitable project. The Superintendent role is key to creating great client relations and developing our greatest resource, our employees. This position will require travel. Candidate can be based anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities



  • Comprehend and administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment that meets or exceeds company safety policies among employees, subcontractors, and vendors. This includes attending daily safety huddles for communicating, resolving issues, and sharing ideas so that projects maintain efficiency.
  • Represent company supervision and management at assigned projects and maintain communication with various contractors, subcontractor, local union representatives, and strengthens client relationships through onsite engagement and meetings.
  • Successful completion of contracts by planning, organizing, and controlling projects; completing quality inspections; supervising subcontractors and staff, and implementing cost control measures in all facets of the project including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Sets production objectives with crews and makes sure those objectives are communicated and enforced. Direct and coordinate the activities of the various trade groups on job sites.
  • Ensure positive work progress according to schedule, material and equipment are delivered to the job site on time, and activities of various workers are coordinated.
  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule and is staffed appropriately to maximize profits.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions and provide input with scheduling, engineering, and material control to make sure project objectives are met.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project work plans and procedures, working documents, and standards to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety, quality, and environmental initiatives.


Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include 5-10 years' experience on environmental remediation construction projects and 3 years of supervisory experience including excavation, earthwork, dewatering, water treatment, water, sediment, and restoration work. Other job requirements include:



  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Possess a strong understanding of environmental remediation methods, heavy construction equipment, project scheduling, planning, and construction plan reading
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Supervisory experience working in a union environment and on federal projects is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Safety Requirements of USACE EM 385-1-1
  • Knowledge of various areas of construction (earthwork, structures, mechanical, utilities, electrical, etc.)
  • US Citizenship


Physical Requirements



  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling or stretching
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

The salary for this position is based on commensurate experience and other relevant qualifications.
