The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (https://www.psychiatry.northwestern.edu/) at Northwestern University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Investigator at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to fill the recently established Carol W. Asher Professorship in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

The position is for researchers who use clinical neuroscience research methods to study mechanisms and/or treatments in the area of women's mental health. The faculty member will join a large, vibrant, multidisciplinary and highly collaborative community of clinical neuroscientists and clinicians in the heart of downtown Chicago, at one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. We particularly encourage applicants who use human neuroimaging, neurostimulation, human electrophysiology, experimental psychopharmacology, or psychoneuroimmunology approaches to study psychopathological mechanisms underlying affective, substance, and/or trauma-related disorders in women. Strong consideration will be given to applicants whose research program is consistent with the National Institute of Mental Health's experimental therapeutics approach. The position is partially funded through a generous donation from the Asher Family.

Responsibilities include establishing an internationally recognized research program in their specific area of research, as well as mentoring residents, fellows, and other trainees. There are numerous opportunities for collaboration with researchers in the Department of Psychiatry and other departments on Northwestern's Chicago (e.g., Medical Social Sciences; Department of Preventive Medicine) and Evanston campuses (e.g., Department of Psychology, McCormick School of Engineering), as well as other Chicago-area institutions. Qualified candidates will have an established research program, a strong track record of impactful scientific accomplishments and extramural funding, and a collaborative approach to research. We are open to candidates from a broad range of disciplines (e.g., clinical psychology, cognitive and affective neuroscience, developmental psychology, bioengineering) and graduate degrees (e.g., MD/PhD, PhD, MD, PsyD).

Competitive start-up package and generous laboratory space is offered. The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.

When applying, please upload (a) a detailed CV, (b) a 2-3 page research statement describing your research program and accomplishments, alignment with the position, and fit with the existing research groups at Northwestern, and (c) three sample publications. (d) upload this completed list of references form to suggest the names of individuals who could write letters of reference on your behalf.

For questions or more information about the position, please email the search chair, Stewart Shankman, PhD (stew.shankman@northwestern.edu).
