Job Summary:

NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position immediately available in the laboratory of Sumit Dhar for projects focused on otoacoustic emissions, aging of the auditory periphery, development of diagnostic tools using advanced signal processing, machine learning, and data science tools. Enthusiastic candidates with a PhD in audiology, hearing science, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Previous experience conducting research in the auditory system is required. Experience in signal processing, MATLAB, R, Python, etc. is desired.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • To participate in and oversee laboratory operations.
  • To set up and conduct laboratory experiments, specifically those related to the funded project that includes audiologic, psychoacoustic and otoacoustic measurements.
  • To help write grants and compete for funding.
  • To supervise students and other research assistants working in the lab.
  • To help write and contribute to publications resulting from research completed in the lab.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • PhD in audiology, hearing science, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field with experience conducting research in the auditory system.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Must have good computer skills, including knowledge of how to use statistical software.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • PhD and training in measurements of auditory function.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Experienced in MATLAB, Python, R or similar programming environments.
  • Experienced in human subject experiments.
  • Proficient in general statistical methods (regression, ANOVA, descriptive statistics).

Target hiring salary for this position will be $61,008.00 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
