Summary:

The Senior Budget and Financial Analyst will work alongside the Budget Manager in the budget/forecast process and in analysis of monthly results vs budget/forecast. Collaborate with and support department/cost center managers in budget preparation and monthly review of actual results. Be a key resource in maintaining budget software and documenting budget software processes. Develop financial reports and presentations while working closely with the financial systems manager. Create financial models and analyze current and previous financial data and trends.

This exempt position will report to the Budget Manager in the Division of Finance and Facilities. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $81,400 - $95,000 (commensurate with related experience).

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Budget Preparation: Participate in preparing budget and forecast input forms, assumptions, processes, calendar, instructions, and training. Function as a resource for departments during budget and forecast preparation. Create and lead organization-wide budget training sessions.

  • Budget Process: Participate in review of submitted budgets/forecasts and follow up with divisions for clarification. Assess reasonableness of budget, develop questions and recommendations for revisions. Track submission and revision status. Assist in budget meetings by preparing and presenting materials and taking notes.

  • Budget System Maintenance: Set up budget users in on-line system and maintain workflow and security settings. Set-up new budget versions and default assumptions. Perform additional assigned system maintenance tasks. Upload data to the system as required.

  • Monthly Variance Review: Key leader in the monthly department/cost center actual vs budget variance review & liaison with department/cost center managers to understand variances. Develop and prepare reports and analysis to facilitate monthly financial reviews.

  • Develop financial reports along with the financial systems manager. Assess reporting needs and create reports to address. This could include charts and graphs and other visualization tools. This could include key metrics and ratios.

  • Financial analyses and development of financial models to provide insight for decision making. Assist in other duties and special projects as needed to further the goals of the department. This might include participation in preparing documents for Finance Committee meetings and fulfilling requests from the CFO, Controller, and other senior management.


Required Education and/or Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study is required.

  • A minimum of 4+ years of similar Finance experience is required.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat. Advanced Excel experience is preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of financial and accounting concepts are required.

  • Experience with reporting, analytics, and budgeting tools is required.

  • Familiarity with Bizview, Business Central ERP system, and/or Jet reporting is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.

  • Attention to detail, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
