JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A Four Diamonds Mini-THON Liaison is needed to support the Division of Development and Alumni Relations in Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. The Four Diamonds mission is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children and their families through superior care, comprehensive support and innovative research. Reporting to the Director of Four Diamonds Mini-THON, the Four Diamonds Mini-THON Liaison will:

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned K through 12 schools and their annual giving to Four Diamonds through the Mini-THON Program. Develop and execute strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention. Use data to develop individualized plans for the cultivation and stewardship of returning schools, and closely steward them to meet key performance indicators and maximize their potential. Manage and prepare proposal, solicitation, and cultivation materials. Travel throughout the region to pursue these strategies and build enduring relationships with advisors and student leaders, meeting required metrics.
  • Articulate Penn State's needs, ambitions, and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications
  • Solicit prospective schools, plan and execute a strategy to reactivate lapsed schools, and onboard new schools. Use data to develop individualized plans for the cultivation and solicitation of prospective schools. Orient new schools on best practices to help them succeed in their Mini-THON fundraising efforts and provide education about Four Diamonds, the Mini-THON Program, Penn State Health Children's Hospital, and the fight to conquer childhood cancer. Reactivate lapsed schools and re-train advisors and student leaders on the effective use of the online giving and idea sharing platforms. Travel throughout the region to pursue these strategies and build enduring relationships with advisors and student leaders, meeting required metrics.
  • Be or become proficient at using the online giving and idea sharing platforms and apply that knowledge to teach students how to utilize this platform for their events. Must be able to troubleshoot and provide technical support.
  • Contribute to the creation of written content for blogs, newsletters, emails, online resources, and collateral materials.
  • Support the efforts of the Four Diamonds team to ensure that the Mini-THON Leadership Summit is an efficient, enjoyable, and educational event for advisors and student attendees. Collaborate with the Mini-THON team to develop event curriculum and work with our student presenters to develop their presentation materials.
  • Assist with organizing and managing stewardship events such as Mini-THON Appreciation Breakfast taking place on THON Weekend. Aid in the facilitation ofconstructive conversation between Mini-THON students and THON Committee Members.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 1 to 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position will be filled at a Level 2 or a Level 3, depending upon experience. The successful candidate will also have:

  • Development, fundraising, and/or general sales experience is required. Experience in peer-to-peer fundraising is preferred.
  • The successful candidate must possess exemplary interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; exceptional organizational skills; and a proven ability to self-motivate and work successfully both independently and as part of a team with individuals at a variety of levels from within and outside of the organization.
  • A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with diverse communities
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Familiarity with or have the capacity to learn University business systems such as Advance Web database, Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), online giving software, emerging technologies, and social media platforms (training is available).
  • Professionalism in dealing with the public, exhibiting good judgement, employment of critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team and to use data to drive business decisions and best practices.
  • A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.
  • This role includes travel to visit participating and prospective schools. Occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel required.

Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position's duties and a valid driver's license is required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required, as well as the following: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
