Director of Military and Veteran Services

General Summary of Position:

The Office of Veterans' Services is responsible for identifying and serving as a resource for currently enrolled and prospective students who have served or are currently serving in the United States military services, and for their dependents receiving veterans' benefits.

The Director is responsible for the recruitment, support, and outreach for students who are veterans; the coordination of services and programs to better serve these students; the development and implementation of strategic planning for returning veterans and their eligible dependents, and the processing and certification of educational benefits.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

* Master's Degree with 5 or more years of direct experience working with veterans and/or military members

*will consider candidates with Bachelor's degree and 8 years working with veterans and/or military members

* 5 or more years of professional staff supervision

Additional Considerations:

* 3-5 years of experience in coordinating and advocating compensation and pension, educational benefits; and/or vocational rehabilitation.
* Experience working with veterans and/or military members in a college or university setting or through the Department of Veterans Affairs
* Prior service in the military
* Training in and familiarity with veterans' benefits and current laws governing distribution of benefit
* Experience performing outreach to external active military and veterans' groups
* Experience organizing, coordinating and supervising student workers
* Experience conducting professional presentations and speaking to large audiences.
* Experience organizing and executing programs and events.
