Description & Requirements

Forvis Mazars is seeking client service professionals with at least four years of experience to manage research tax credit studies for a diverse and growing national client base. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional that is experienced in serving clients on research and development tax credit engagements. With a passion for driving value and tax savings for clients, you can make an immediate contribution to Forvis Mazars' national research tax credit practice by working directly with a multi-disciplinary team of research credit experts, business stakeholders, and executive-level management.

How you will contribute:

  • Managing research and development of tax credit studies for a variety of entities and clients including Fortune 500, middle-market, owner-managed, and start-up businesses
  • Diverse client base in industries that include Manufacturing, Consumer Products, Life Sciences, Biotech, Food and Beverage, Technology and Software, Financial Services, Architectural and Engineering, Construction, Transportation and Logistics, Retail, Defense, and Government Contractors
  • Coordinating with Partner / Managing Director, Senior Manager, and staff on all phases of an R&D credit engagement including initial scoping, engagement letter, information requests, timely and proactive client communications, staffing, project execution, quality assurance review, report, and deliverable preparation and client delivery meetings.
  • Delegating work and reviewing work performed by staff in accordance with their experience and capabilities
  • Researching R&D credit statute, regulations, and case law
  • Assisting in the analysis of client data, leading technical client subject matter expert discussions regarding projects and activities, and reviewing client documentation
  • Developing and reviewing descriptions of qualified project activities and technical memorandums to support R&D credit positions
  • Coordinating with the Partner / Managing Director and Senior Manager to assist with IRS and state examination support of R&D credits
  • Preparing/reviewing technical reports and analysis, and engagement deliverables
  • Helping in developing, building, and managing client relationships through direct interaction with C-suite, tax and finance stakeholders, and business owners
  • Providing timely and outstanding client service exceeding client expectations
  • Actively coaching, mentoring, developing, and training staff from a technical perspective as well as all facets of client engagement execution
  • Candidates should be growth-motivated and supportive of the team's growth goals and expectations
  • Occasional potential travel necessary (15% - 20%). While travel may be necessary, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice

We are looking for people with Forward Vision and:

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, partners and senior managers, staff, and other stakeholders as required
  • Willingness to "own" client engagements and demonstrates a strong desire to deliver high quality, responsive client service and adhere to stringent client deadlines
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Dedication to timely and outstanding client service exceeding client expectations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or Juris Doctorate
  • 4 years or more of experience in public accounting (preferably within tax)
  • Proven knowledge of R&D tax incentives experience
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products
  • At least one of the following accreditations:
    • Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office
    • Licensed attorney
    • Enrolled Agent
