Position Highlights:

  • Program Director - Magnet Program
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL
  • Full Time, 36 hours/week
  • Day shift

What you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree of Nursing; Masters Degree Nursing Preferred
  • 3 Years of nursing experience in a clinical practice setting.
  • Board certification in area of nursing specialty Required
  • Basic knowledge of Magnet Program requirements and Magnet Sources of Evidence

General Summary:

Responsible for ensuring professional advancement of nursing excellence. Coordinates and oversees activities required to maintain Magnet Hospital designation and ensures ongoing compliance with American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet standards. Supports our "Culture of Nursing Excellence" through our Shared Governance structure which supports nurses having the authority, autonomy and accountability for nursing practice. Assists in the application of evidence base and/or nursing research into nursing practice. Promotes the professional image of Nursing, while ensuring inter-professional collaboration to ensure the delivery of high quality clinical care. Serves to promote Relationship Based Care as the delivery model of nursing care, and ensures the department of nursing works to support the organization's mission and vision. Represents organization at regional/national Magnet Program venues/forums.

What you will do:

  • Assumes oversight for ensuring standards required for the Magnet Recognition Program are met and sustained.
  • Supports the organization in implementation of initiatives related to obtaining and maintaining Magnet designation and ensuring the internalization of the five components of Magnet into nursing practice.
  • Act as a knowledge expert and resource that interprets and integrates the Magnet standards into nursing practice.
  • Facilitates Magnet readiness gap analysis at varied phases of Magnet process and proposes action plans for identified gaps.
  • Works collaboratively and participates in the development, tracking and reporting of quality/safety nurse sensitive indicators with the Assistant Vice Presidents/Clinical Directors of Nursing to ensure coordination and submission of nursing data submission requirements, such as NDNQI.
  • Supports a culture and the infrastructure within the organization that enables shared decision making, evidence based practice, nursing research and the professional development of nurses.
